Our garments do not have a single source of origin or completion. Depending upon the weaving and block-printing processes, they travel through the workshops of numerous Craftsmen across India during the course of their incredible journey.

Fabric shrinkage & colour bleeding - Although we make it a point to ensure that all of our fabrics & garments are pre washed & preshrunk, some of the fabrics may shrink further and a few colours may yet bleed after washing due to their innate characteristics. We do not offer any guarantee for the same.

Rub-fast colours - Dyes like indigo & colours from ikkat fabrics may transfer upon contact but can be easily removed on washing.

Please avoid wearing these garments with light-coloured clothes.

Block printing is a process in which design-carved wooden blocks are used to print fabrics. It is one of the earliest processes of printing and is kept alive by traditional artisan communities today.

At Cotton Cottage, we create authentic blockprints just like the traditional craft. Our team conceptualizes original designs and then carves them onto wooden blocks. We carefully select the right fabric and prepare the appropriate dyes for each print. Our skilled artisans use these materials to print the fabrics by hand, without the use of any machines or technology. This entire process is not only in tune with tradition but also with nature. Factors such as the place of origin, intensity of heat and wind, water, etc. all impact the final look of the fabric. We work with all these elements to bring you a traditionally handcrafted product.

The tiny imperfections visible in the prints are a great way to recognize an authentic block print. Since all the printing is done by hand, these minute irregularities bear the seal of authenticity and human effort. In the case of screen or computer printing, the designs are monotonous and identical.
